Hi! I’m Laura, an artist and photographer based in Sioux Falls, SD. While most of my work is close to home, I’m always up for an adventure. My camera has traveled with me to Italy, China, Guatemala, Israel, and the Czech Republic — and I’d be just as thrilled to capture your story, wherever it unfolds, whether cornfields or coastlines, lakes or oceans, prairies or mountain peaks.
Visual arts has always been a passion, but it wasn’t until taking a class back in 2004 that photography jumped to the forefront. Since then, it has been an exhilarating and fulfilling pursuit, one that challenges me to keep learning and growing every day.
Over the past 20+ years, I’ve had the humbling honor of capturing the beginning of lives, growth, transformation, overcoming of difficulties, and graceful transitions into new seasons. I’ve met some of the most incredible people, heard their stories, discovered their personalities and caught that unique one-of-a-kind light shining through.
Each photo session continues to fill me with awe as well as an awareness of how time passes so very quickly. Life may be fleeting and fast, yet it’s also rich, beautiful, and full of purpose. Even the smallest moments carry value; a divine invitation to slow down, take notice, and give thanks for these treasures all around.
So whether it’s a family piled together in the grass, a high school senior stepping into a tomorrow of possibilities, or a bride & groom aglow on their wedding day, know that it is an honor and joy to be here with you — present, witnessing, receiving and giving back photographs you can hold and reflect on in the years ahead.
On an ordinary day, you might find me…
out on country roads admiring stormy clouds,
lost in a book about a character from another time or place,
savoring a lavender (spring) or hazelnut (fall) latte on the porch,
dreaming of Italy's red rooftops & cobblestone streets,
guiding patients at the hospital through a watercolor project,
filled with absolute joy & delight by my nieces & nephews,
journeying deeper into God's extravagant love & grace.
